Pharmaceutical Substances 3.0 Launches With New Anti-Cancer and Anti-Diabetes Monographs

Stuttgart — June 25, 2007 — Thieme Publishing Group is pleased to announce the release of Pharmaceutical Substances 3.0, now available via Thieme-connect (www.thieme-connect.com). The current version contains new entries on anti-cancer and anti-diabetes drugs recently approved by the FDA.

Numerous changes made to the data source consist of the addition of new monographs, the inclusion of new software features, as well as a major overhaul of the interface. Version 3.0 contains 16 new entries including two newly approved anti-cancer and eight newly approved anti-diabetes drugs. Sixty-eight existing entries have been updated as well.

The inclusion of InfoChem’s Fast Search Engine(ICFSE) in the online resource provides a significant boost to the performance of structure queries and allows more advanced searches. The new auto expand function dynamically indicates search results and displays the number of hits while a person is typing. This tool enables a user to simply click on a term in order to transfer it to the search field.

Dr. Krimmer, Director Institutional Marketing, who manages the Pharmaceutical Substances project at Thieme states, “With our new auto expand function users are able to preview their search result even before a search is actually performed, allowing for precise and highly efficient information retrieval. This new feature considerably enhances the usability of Pharmaceutical Substances Version 3.0 and underscores its role as the primary resource for researchers in industry and academic institutions involved in the synthesis of active pharmaceutical substances.”

Pharmaceutical Substances is a complete reference guide to every pharmaceutical compound of significance. It provides a compendium of over 2400 active pharmaceutical ingredients (API's) of interest to the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Pharmaceutical Substances is an invaluable resource for anybody involved in the design, synthesis, development, and evaluation of drugs.
