SYNFORM presents an interview with Franziska Schoenebeck (RWTH Aachen University, Germany). Franziska Schoenebeck studied chemistry at the Technical University of Berlin (Germany) and the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (UK) from 2001 to 2004. She undertook her PhD studies in synthetic organic chemistry in the group of Professor John A. Murphy in Glasgow (UK). In 2008, she moved to California to work with Professor K. N. Houk at University of California, Los Angeles, (USA). In 2010, she joined the faculty of the ETH Zürich (Switzerland) as an Assistant Professor. In 2013, she was appointed Associate Professor at the Institute of Organic Chemistry at RWTH Aachen University (Germany) and promoted to Full Professor in 2016. She is the recipient of numerous prizes, among them the Novartis Chemistry Lectureship (2016–2017), an ERC Starting Grant, the 2014 ORCHEM Prize by the German Chemical Society, and the 2014 JPOC Award for Early Excellence in Physical Organic Chemistry.
