Synthesis of Benzofuro[3,2-b]indolines
The group of Dr. Guillaume Vincent has been interested over the last four years in the development of new synthetic methods towards benzofuroindoline-containing frameworks. Their biosynthesis implies the oxidative coupling of indoles and phenols. This coupling has now been achieved in one step, proceeding via a radical intermediate formed from phenol through oxidation and using iron trichloride as a crucial promoter.
