Tetrahydropyridines and Piperidines from Ynamides
Keteniminium ions are important reaction intermediates in organic chemistry. Their electrophilic heterocumulene nature has been exploited rather extensively for inter- and intramolecular cycloaddition reactions. Gwilherm Evano and his co-workers at the Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) were interested in the behavior of activated analogues of keteniminium ions bearing an electron-withdrawing group on the nitrogen atom and their application in the group’s studies on the chemistry of ynamides.
