Organic Chemistry Welcomes New Advisory Board Member Irene Stará
Dr. Irene Stará, PhD, from IOCB Prague (Czech Republic) joined the Advisory Board of Organic Materials in November 2023.
Dr. Stará is a prominent senior scientist and project leader at the IOCB Prague (Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Czech Academy of Sciences). She currently serves as Deputy Group Leader in the Ivo Starý Group at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry IOCB, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Her academic journey is marked by a distinguished Ph.D. (CSc.) in Organic Chemistry earned in 1993 from the IOCB. Following her doctoral studies, Dr. Stará embarked on a postdoctoral fellowship with Prof. Wolfgang Oppolzer at the Université de Genève, Switzerland, from 1993 to 1994.
This foundational period laid the groundwork for her subsequent impactful contributions to the field. She has published 90 papers and 6 book chapters, earning an impressive h-index of 32. Notably, she served as a Visiting Professor in Toulouse, France (2018) and Tokyo, Japan (2016). Since 2016, she has been the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Experientia Foundation and since 2018, she has been a member of the CAS International Affairs Council.
Dr. Stará's research interests span organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, asymmetric synthesis, catalysis, synthesis, and properties of π-electron systems, self-assembly on solid surfaces, on-surface chemistry, nanoparticles, molecular electronics, and single-molecule devices.
We welcome Dr. Stará to our Advisory Board and we are anticipating a successful and inspiring collaboration with her.
