SYNTHESIS Best Paper Award 2022: Asymmetric Synthesis of Fused Tetrahydroquinolines via Intramolecular Aza-Diels–Alder Reaction of ortho-Quinone Methide Imines
Christoph Schneider gives further insights to his award-winning paper on the asymmetric synthesis of fused tetrahydroquinolines.
The award-winning article presents a new way to access fused tetrahydroquinolines via an intramolecular aza-Diels–Alder Reaction of ortho-quinone methide imines. The work of Professor Christoph Schneider and his group from the University of Leipzig (Germany) describes as a key success the use of chiral BINOL phosphoric amides as Brønsted acids. Their study also presents successes and limitations, as well as proposes possible transition states to explain the results.
