The group of Dr. Igor Titanyuk from Moscow State University (Russian Federation) has previously reported a palladium-catalyzed hydroarylation of diazoacetic ester. Continuing research on this methodology in the group has recently led to the expansion of its scope for the hydroarylation of α-diazocarboxylates or α-diazophosphonates, leading to diarylated esters and phosphonates, respectively.
Dr. Titanyuk said: “Cross-coupling of diazo compounds with aryl iodides makes hardly accessible diarylated carboxylic acid and phosphonic acid derivatives available now!”
