SynOpen welcomes its new editor Dr. Philippa Cranwell

Dr. Philippa Cranwell from the Chemistry Department at the University of Reading (UK) has joined the Editorial Board of SynOpen. She will be responsible for the crowd review process in SynOpen, which will be available soon.

 “I am very excited to be joining the SynOpen team as an Associate Editor. I look forward to expanding the crowd-review process for assessing contributions, in order to give authors the opportunity for rapid feedback and on-line publication. The fact that all articles published in SynOpen are open access will allow more scientists to read these publications, exposing authors to a larger audience. I am very happy to be involved in this next exciting stage of the SynOpen project”, states Dr. Cranwell.

Currently, Philippa Cranwell is a Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the University of Reading. Prior to this she carried out her postdoctoral research in the group of Erick M. Carreira at ETH Zürich (Switzerland) and worked toward the synthesis of polyhalogenated natural products. She undertook her PhD studies under the supervision of Steven V. Ley at the University of Cambridge (UK) and worked toward the synthesis of a complex natural product. She also supported the development of the use of TeflonAF-2400 gas permeable membrane to allow for the synthesis of pyrroles using gaseous ammonia in a continuous flow process.

Philippa will be no stranger to several members of the SYNLETT and SYNTHESIS Editorial Boards as she carried out her postgraduate research in Professor Ley's group and then went on to a postdoctoral position with Professor Carreira. Philippa brings her own special flair and enthusiasm to the team and I am sure that contributors to SynOpen will recognize and appreciate her efficiency and eye for detail."
