Mental strain can be treated
Effective ways to treat mental strain are available. In this respect, treatment
with medication and psychotherapy are the primary methods used. Both methods of treatment can be effective either on their own or in combination.
Your doctor will assess your personal situation and decide the type of treatment to which you are best suited. In mild cases, treatment with either medication or psychotherapy is considered to be equally effective. In moderate and severe cases, however, treatment with medication (antidepressants) is recommended, which can be combined with psychotherapy according to the individual case.
Important: Antidepressant medication only takes effect after two to three weeks of administration. Therefore, do not stop taking the medication if it fails to have an immediate effect. If your symptoms do not improve after three weeks, however, talk to your doctor!
