Science of Synthesis Knowledge Updates – New Volume Editor
Professor Guosheng Liu becomes a Science of Synthesis Volume Editor.
It is with great pleasure that we can announce the appointment of Professor Guosheng Liu, of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), as a volume editor for the Science of Synthesis Knowledge Updates (Vol. 47: Alkenes).
Professor Liu’s current research interests at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, focus on the development of novel synthetic methodologies for oxidative functionalization of alkenes and alkanes, including transition-metal-catalyzed fluorination as well as asymmetric radical reactions. Professor Liu obtained his PhD in 2002 at SIOC, and then pursued post-doctoral studies at Lehigh University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the U.S.A. Since 2007, he has been a research professor in State Key Laboratory of Organometallic Chemistry at SIOC. Visit Professor Liu’s group homepage to find out more.
The original Science of Synthesis volume on alkenes was published in 2010 (Volume Editor: Professor Armin de Meijere). The scope of the volume includes various strategies for introducing C=C bonds into molecules (e.g., Wittig and related olefination reactions, coupling reactions, eliminations). There are also chapters on particular classes of alkenes, such as cyclopropenes and polyenes. Some exciting future contributions on aspects of synthetic routes to introduce alkene functionality into molecules are already planned, and we look forward to bringing you reviews of recent developments in this area of chemistry.
