SYNTHESIS-SYNLETT Lecture at Queen’s University

On February 10th, 2017 Prof. Alison J. Frontier (University of Rochester, New York) will talk about “Stereocontrolled Reactions for Complex Molecule Synthesis” in a lecture sponsored by Thieme Chemistry.

Prof. Alison Frontier will present the development of reaction cascades for synthesizing complex natural and non-natural bioactive small molecules. In her lecture you’ll learn more about her research on electrocyclic reactions, cationic rearrangements, and multistep cascades that occur with high levels of stereochemical control.

The SYNTHESIS-SYNLETT Lecture takes place at Chernoff Hall from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. It will be hostet by Queen’s professors P. Andrew Evans and Victor Snieckus.

Everyone is invited to attend the SYNTHESIS-SYNLETT Lecture at Queen’s University in Kingston on February 10th, 2017!

About Alison Frontier

Prof. Alison Frontier attended Harvard University, where she worked in the laboratory of Prof. Yoshito Kishi. After she graduated 1992 with an AB in chemistry, she became a research scientist at Merck Research Laboratories in New Jersey, in the Basic Medicinal Chemistry division. In 1999, Prof. Frontier received her Ph.D. under the direction of Prof. Samuel Danishefsky and until 2001, she was an NIH postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Prof. Barry Trost at Stanford University. In early 2002, she started her independent career at the University of Rochester and was promoted to associate professor in 2008 and professor in 2013. Furthermore, Prof. Frontier is founder of “not voodoo”, a website dedicated to students who are beginning independent experimentation for organic research projects, which attracts hundreds of researchers daily from all over the world.
