Cristina Nevado is the Dr. Margaret Faul Women in Chemistry Award Winner 2021
Prof. Cristina Nevado from the University of Zurich (Switzerland) has been chosen as the second recipient of the Dr. Margaret Faul Award for Women in Chemistry.
Science of Synthesis and Thieme Chemistry are delighted to announce that the Dr. Margaret Faul Women in Chemistry Award Winner 2021 is Cristina Nevado from University of Zurich (Switzerland) who is acknowledged as a rising star in the field of synthetic organic chemistry. She is recognized as an outstanding recipient of the award due to the breadth and diversity of her work which spans the development of new catalytic methods and elucidation of underlying mechanisms, important contributions in the synthesis of medicinally relevant natural products, and development of bioactive chemical probes.
The award will be presented to her at the European Symposium on Organic Chemistry Virtual Mini Symposium on Monday, July 5, 2021.
About Cristina Nevado
Cristina Nevado received her PhD in organic chemistry from Autónoma University of Madrid in October 2004 working with Antonio Echavarren on catalysis using late transition metals. Her first independent position as an Assistant Professor started at the University of Zurich in 2007. Among other awards in recognition of her contributions in the field of synthetic organic chemistry during her impressive career, she received a Thieme Chemistry Journals Award in 2011. She became Full Professor at the University of Zurich in 2013. Her research program is focused on complex chemical synthesis and new organometallic reactions.

About the Dr. Margaret Faul Women in Chemistry Award
The prize is awarded to a young woman of any nationality within the first 15 years of her independent career in chemical research in recognition of the candidate’s outstanding achievements in organic chemistry, broadly defined to include medicinal, biological, organometallic, or materials chemistry, and related areas. The award is presented every two years and includes an award of €5,000.
